In Port Monmouth School, we have two different coding clubs which are both very awesome. In Scratch, there are sprites. Sprites are charters that you can make them talk, walk and much more. Our Coding Clubs use Google CS First. In the beginner club, Digital Storytelling, you learn basic steps on coding. For instance, you learn to make the Sprites talk using coding blocks. Coding blocks are equivalent to a line of code. We use the blocks to make the characters talk, walk, dance, spin, grow and all sorts of other things.
At New Monmouth School, we are in our second year of coding club. We are learning how to create games. We even made a racing game this week! We want to encourage other students to use Scratch because it can help with your career and it is fun. This program is not just great for our school, it is used worldwide. Last year, we did the Digital Storytelling and Friends Clubs from CS-First. If you are doing coding club for the first time, you should probably start with storytelling because it is simple, but fun and it is a great learning experience for 4th and 5th graders. If you do not know how to code or you are not good at it, Scratch is a fabulous website that could help you learn and get better. We definitely recommend Scratch because it is a great learning experience, it is fun, and you can do better in your school and your career.
